Environment, Health, and Safety

Woodway Energy is committed to continuously improving our programs through application of the Pipeline Safety Management System (PSMS) and investing in and supporting the communities in which we operate. The team focuses on robust integrity management through design, construction, operating, and maintenance programs. Strict compliance is applied with environmental, health, and safety (EHS) regulations, and the company is committed to setting responsible standards where laws or regulations do not exist.

Design

All infrastructure facilities are designed and constructed in accordance with the requirements of the US Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (“PHMSA”), as well as state environmental and safety regulations, where applicable.  This includes, but is not limited to:

  • hydrostatic pressure testing of pipelines and equipment to verify integrity, prior to placing infrastructure in service.
  • adherence to PHMSA and/or state design standards that include burying of pipelines a minimum of 3 feet below the ground.

Safety

By the administration and guidance of our safety programs by the PSMS System, we ensure that we have industry-leading safety programs and practices, as well as continuous improvement principles that ensure that our personnel and safety systems are protected by leading edge best practices, going above and beyond the regulations.

Environment Awareness

The Woodway environmental compliance team monitors and enforces compliance during all aspects of pipeline construction and operation. Erosion and sediment control inspections are performed and the team consistently takes steps to ensure that fuel delivery by pipeline is significantly safer than truck delivery.

Landowner Safety

Please call 811 first, before you dig or excavate!  When anyone digs, whether planting a tree or digging a building foundation, there is a high probability that there may be nearby underground pipelines, or other utility infrastructure. Calling 811 first allows for those utilities to be properly located and marked, by the proper agencies and companies, so that proper and safe excavation can be ensured.

  • Call 811 from anywhere in the country a few days prior to digging and your call will automatically be routed to your local one-call center.
  • Companies who have potential facilities around your dig site will be notified about your intent to dig.
  • Provide the operator with information about how to contact you, where you are planning to dig and what type of work you will be doing.
  • Each affected company will send a locator to mark the approximate location of its nearby assets and this typically occurs within 2-3 working days.
